Pianolus

Turn any MIDI or MusicXML file into a piano lesson

Found a song you love as a MIDI file or as sheet music on MuseScore? Pianolus turns it into an interactive piano lesson. Add the file, and you get falling notes, the sheet music, separate left and right hands, and a lesson plan that teaches the song a few bars at a time.

Which files work

How the lesson works

  1. Open pianolus.com and choose “Add a song” under Your songs, or drop the file on the page.
  2. Open the song and tap “Lesson”. The song is split into sections of four bars.
  3. Each section is practised with the right hand, then the left hand, then both hands at 70% speed.
  4. Finally you play the whole song slowly and then at full speed. Reach 90% to pass each step.

Private by design

Your files never leave your device. Pianolus reads them in the browser and stores them only on that device, so you can practise songs you bought or arranged yourself.

Any digital piano or keyboard with a USB port or MIDI out, from brands like Yamaha, Casio, Roland, Kawai and Korg. Connect it with a USB cable.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Can I learn my own songs?

Yes. Add a MIDI or MusicXML file and Pianolus turns it into a lesson with falling notes, sheet music, hands and finger numbers. Your files stay on your device.

Do I need a piano?
